He may have less experience than most of his Appalachian League peers, but that didn't slow Michael Choice down at all in 2009.
At the age of 20, the Princeton center fielder has been named the winner of the Appalachian League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .339 batting average and a .410 on-base percentage this year. In 67 games he piled up 84 hits, 14 doubles, 3 triples, 16 home runs, 65 RBIs and 52 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 10. Nick Franklin of the Princeton Devil Rays finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Alex Morales of the Princeton Devil Rays finished third.
