Phillies Heading to Round 2 Wednesday, September 1st , 1999 The sweet swing of Jose Bautista has led his team through the Round 1. The GCL Phillies star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the GCL Mets to advance to the Round 2. The Phillies won the final game at Thomas J. White Stadium by a score of 7-6 and the series 4-1. "I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Bautista. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs." For the series, Bautista hit .389 with a .476 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 6 runs. The GCL Phillies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the GCL Orioles - GCL Rangers series. GCL leads the series 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
