Morales Slams 5 Hits for GCL Sunday, August 10th , 1997 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Alex Morales today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at White Stadium and paced the Mets to a 13-0 win over the GCL White Sox. After his dynamite batting performance, the GCL center fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Alex Morales hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. So far this year Morales has hit .410 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and 24 runs scored. |
