Marlins Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep Monday, August 28th , 2006 After their 2-0 win today at Joker Marchant Stadium over the GCL Tigers, the GCL Marlins will advance to the Round 2. GCL won the series by a 4-0 margin. Leading the way for the Marlins was closer Matt Shoemaker, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP. "I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus." The GCL Marlins don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the GCL Red Sox - GCL Yankees series. GCL leads the series 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
