Cedar Rapids Pitcher Racks Up Pitcher of the Year Award Thursday, September 28th , 2006 Xavier Cedeno of the Cedar Rapids Kernels was on cloud nine during the 2006 season, mystifying most of the hitters he faced, then capping it off with the Midwest League Pitcher of the Year Award. Cedeno was spectacular in 28 starting assignments with 11 wins and 3 losses, 163.2 innings, 183 strikeouts and a fine 0.99 ERA. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 15. Tony Dunbar of the Quad Cities Swing finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Andrew Cooke of the finished third.
