Blue Jays Chill Chita Hot Streak
Monday, May 17th , 2004
The Dunedin Blue Jays pitching staff did its job, holding hot-hitting VirgĂlio Chita hitless in 5 at-bats during the club's 4-3 victory over the Daytona Cubs at Dunedin Stadium. The disappointing performance ended a 20-game hitting streak for the right fielder.
"I'm a little down right now," Chita said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."
In 29 games this season, Chita has batted at a .283 pace with 36 hits and 2 home runs.
