SALL Announces Best Player Award
Wednesday, September 26th , 2007
At the age of 22, Darwin Barney of the Greenville Bombers could very well have his best years ahead of him.

It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2007 was good enough to win the shortstop the South Atlantic League Most Valuable Player Award.

"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."

The top hitter put up a .252 batting average this year, as well as a .328 on-base percentage. He played 130 games and racked up 123 hits, 29 doubles, 5 triples, 18 home runs, 61 RBIs and 68 runs scored.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Travis Snider of the Greenville Bombers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Mitch Moreland of the Greenville Bombers finished third.
