Great Stroke: Recker Gets 5 Hits Wednesday, July 7th , 2004 In a career performance, South Georgia Waves catcher Anthony Recker sparkled with the bat at Grayson Stadium. Powering his way to a 5-for-5 day at the plate, Recker led the Waves to a nice 6-4 win over the Savannah Sand Gnats. Recker was in high spirits in the clubhouse after the game, joking with reporters that the big game had left him "winded." "Oh sure, 5 hits sounds great but think about how much more baserunning you have to do," he said with a smile. "Next time, I'm just going to take 5 walks." Anthony Recker singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Currently Recker has 3 home runs and a .263 batting average. |
