Thompson Shuts Out Hickory
Sunday, May 16th , 2004
Sean Thompson bent a little, but he didn't break against the Hickory Crawdads. The Charleston AlleyCats pitcher hurled a 4-hit, 1-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 1 walk and tallying 4 strikeouts.
"Sean is good at getting out of jams," AlleyCats manager Enrique Gonzalez told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
So far this year, Thompson has made 8 starts, tossed 56 innings, struck out 53 batters and walked 17. His record is 5-3 with a 2.25 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .190 batting average.
