3-HR Game for Young
Saturday, May 1st , 2004
It was a good day for the Macon Braves and an exceptional one for Matt Young. The 22-year-old left fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Braves beat the South Georgia Waves, 7-1, at Paul Eames Sports Complex.
"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Young said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."
For the day, he scored 4 times, drove in 5 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats.
Matt Young hit a two-run home run off Adam Loewen in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Adam Loewen in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Brad Kempson in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
This season, Young has hit at a .197 clip with 12 RBIs, 5 home runs and 8 runs scored. He has played in 18 games.
