Mejia Booms 3 out of the Park Thursday, May 25th , 2006 Huntsville Stars first baseman Ernesto Mejia left the Carolina pitching staff in ruins at Five County Stadium, beating the Mudcats, 11-6, with a prodigious three-home run performance. "The last one was totally unexpected," Mejia told reporters at the press conference following his big game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get a home run, and bang, I got number three." For the game, the Huntsville first baseman had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 4 and scored 3 runs. Ernesto Mejia hit a solo-shot off Franquelis Osoria in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Sergio Carmona in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Antonio de Leon in the 8th. At present, Mejia is batting .273 and has collected 14 home runs, 39 RBIs, .321 OBP and scored 20 runs. |
