Pierce Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Sunday, June 6th , 2004
With 1 hit at New Britain Stadium, Sean Pierce added another game to his hitting streak -- the Akron center fielder has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Aeros, as they fell, 1-0, to the New Britain Rock Cats.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," New Britain manager Mark Dempsey said later. "I'll let him get 3 hits in 3 at-bats if it means we get a win." Sean Pierce walked in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and singled in the 8th.
So far this year, Pierce is batting .262 with 9 home runs.
