Botelheiro Keeps Hit Streak Alive
Sunday, August 31st , 2003
With 1 hit at Fifth Third Field, Carlos Botelheiro added another game to his hitting streak -- the Louisville second baseman has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Bats, as they fell, 4-3, to the Toledo Mud Hens.
"Frankly, I don't care about hits," Toledo manager Paul Schaal said later. "I'll let him get 4 hits in 4 at-bats if it means we get a win." Carlos Botelheiro grounded out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th and flied out in the 9th.
Currently Botelheiro is batting .276 with 8 home runs and 65 RBIs.
