Division Series Goes the Distance, South Pottstown Prevails
Wednesday, September 18th , 1991
The Division Series went the distance before it all was said and done.
The South Pottstown Night Riders and the Victoriaville Chameleons went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Chameleons Stadium, the winner was the Night Riders.
They put away Victoriaville 6-4 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the League Championship Series.
For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Victoriaville right fielder Jeffrey Hammonds was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .429, scored 5 runs and batted in 9 to win the honor.
"It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said.
The South Pottstown Night Riders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Fontana Knights - Aiken Clippers series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
