Best SL1 Reliever Named
Tuesday, October 16th , 1990
Rich Rodriguez of the Berwick Islanders said he never set out to win the Sub League 1 Reliever of the Year Award this season, but he'll certainly take it.
"1990 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake."
The 27-year-old out of Downey, California fashioned a 0.48 ERA this season over 37.1 innings of work. He made 28 relief appearances and had 10 saves, 37 strikeouts, 11 walks and a record of 1 win and 1 loss.
He received 26 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Dave Fleming of the Henderson Bees finished second in voting, while Taizo Azuma of the Russellton Tsunami finished third.
