Carone Rockets 3 HR Against Hermon Sunday, August 25th , 1991 It was a terrific day today for Rick Carone, who ripped three home runs at Hermon Grounds, and a disappointing one for the Emporia Americans who nevertheless dropped the game to the Hermon Jet Hawks. "He was instant offense today," Emporia skipper Jesus Rojo said. "Rick really put on a show. He more than did his part. We just didn't come through with hits at the right time to win the game." For the day, Carone collected 4 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 3 runs and had 6 RBIs. In the postgame press conference he told the reporters he has always liked to hit at Hermon Grounds. "I got some good pitches to hit and turned on them real good," he said. Rick Carone hit a two-run home run off Ken Ray in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ken Ray in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th and hit a three-run home run off Angel Chavez in the 12th. In 21 games this season Carone has batted at a .288 pace with 21 hits and 6 home runs. |
