League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Garland Prevails
Sunday, September 29th , 1991
When the entire season comes down to one game, Herbert Perry said you find out what a team is really about.
As it turns out, the Garland Catbirds are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the St. Paul Golden Knights 7-3 tonight at Ballpark of Garland in order to win the League Championship Series and book a place in the next round.
"It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said Perry, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about."
Perry hit .417 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Garland Catbirds will play against the Columbus Victory in the next round. Columbus won their series against the Armonk Sycamores 4 games to 3. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
