Diplomats Alexis Stops Golden Grizzlies Friday, August 9th , 1991 Julio Alexis kept the Newport News Golden Grizzlies hitters from doing any damage at Newport News Grounds today. Newport News could only muster 3 hits and take 2 walks against the right-handed Alexis, who controlled them throughout the game as Gilbert took the contest, 11-0. Alexis added 6 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Alexis told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." |
