White Sox End Sanchez Streak Wednesday, September 21st , 2005 The Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox, 8-1, at U.S. Cellular Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Freddy Sanchez's 21-game hitting streak. The second baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Sanchez, we would win the game," White Sox manager Joe D explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." So far this year, Sanchez is batting .307 with 8 home runs. |
