Ruiz Shuts Out San Diego, 5-0 Saturday, July 10th , 2004 Juan Ruiz of the Colorado Rockies was cool and collected on the mound, leading his club to a shutout victory over the San Diego Padres, 5-0. "He was mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," Colorado manager Sal G said later. "When Juan does that, good things happen." The right-hander had 9 strikeouts, no walks and allowed 3 hits in the win. Currently Ruiz has a record of 8-5 with 69 strikeouts and 44 walks in 115 innings and a 4.46 ERA.
