Phillies Lose By a Run at Washington

The Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4. Washington pitcher and Richmond, Virginia, native Justin Verlander led the way. Verlander picked up the win for Washington, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 6-9. The last-place Nationals now sit at 61-93.
In the bottom of the fifth, Washington catcher Brian McCann had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and one out, McCann stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 5-1, Washington. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
