Washington Gets 7-3 Win Against Mets
|
The Washington Nationals picked up a win at RFK Stadium, taking down the New York Mets, 7-3. Starting pitcher Justin Verlander was a big reason why. In 8.2 innings, Verlander surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Aaron Harang closed it out for Washington, earning his 6th save.
Washington took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Scott Sizemore hit a 2-run single to make it 3-1, Nationals.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Verlander.
The last-place Nationals are 64-89.
