The Texas Rangers topped the Los Angeles Angels, 7-4, at Ameriquest Field in Arlington. Texas left fielder Alex Mendoza was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Picking up the save was 29-year old right-handed pitcher David Riske. The AL West Division-leading Rangers are 88-61.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Mendoza hit a 3-run home run. It thrust the Rangers into the lead, 6-3.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Mendoza.
