Minnesota Gets 7-2 Win
|
The Minnesota Twins reigned over the Chicago White Sox in damp conditions.
The Minnesota Twins topped the Chicago White Sox, 7-2, with youngster Jon Jay playing a key role. Jay went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Twins in the win. Phil Hughes earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout in 5 innings of work.
The Twins got a big at-bat from first baseman Rico Vega. For the game, Vega was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Vega.
The win gives Minnesota a record of 5-3.
