Blue Jays Snatch Late-Game, 5-4 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees, 5-4, in part because of left fielder Carlos Quentin. He was 3-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The win belonged to Will Startup in relief. His record improves to 1-4. Joakim Soria took the loss for New York. The second-place Blue Jays improved to 83-63.
Toronto first baseman Todd Helton helped the Blue Jays go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the game tied, Helton hit a run-scoring single off New York pitcher Joakim Soria.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Helton told the Toronto Today. "And padding the Toronto win column."
