Mets Suffer 3-2 Home Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Jeff Karstens gave the Houston Astros a rock-solid effort. The San Diego, California native helped his team defeat the New York Mets, 3-2, at Shea Stadium. Karstens, the winner, moves to 9-10. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. Houston has now won 4 straight.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for John Lindsey? The Houston first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Astros on top, 2-0. For the game, Lindsey had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Karstens told a Houston News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
