Nationals Win, 2-1, at Colorado
|
Jovanny Cedeno, who is tied for 6th in the NL in wins with 14, imposed his will on the Rockies from the get-go. Relying mainly on his knuckle curve, the right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 Washington triumph. In 5.2 innings, Cedeno surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. The win puts the Nationals at 58-85, while the Rockies drop to 84-58.
The Nationals got a gift in the top of the second inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and a runner on 2nd, Octavio Benavente reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Washington.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Colorado manager Sal G.
