Blue Jays Sneak Past Athletics, 2-1
|
The Oakland Athletics wasted an impressive 8-inning effort from starter Scott Strickland, falling, 2-1, to the Toronto Blue Jays at McAfee Coliseum. Toronto reliever Pat Neshek snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eddy Santana shouldered the loss. The defeat makes Oakland 3-4.
Carlos Quentin came through with a big-time hit for Toronto. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Toronto manager Matt S called it "a darn good win."
