White Sox Lose, 3-1, as Padres Rally
|
John Rheinecker pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Chicago White Sox, despite Rheinecker's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The win went to Luis Macias in relief, making him now 3-1. John Rheinecker took the loss for Chicago. Stan Belinda, who led the AL in saves with 41 in 1994, earned the save for San Diego.
Felipe Lopez hit a run-scoring double off Nate Bump in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Padres in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Lopez had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Lopez said.
The Padres are now 28-34.
