5-3 Loss Deepens Philadelphia Funk
The New York Mets knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-3, in NL action at Shea Stadium. New York pitcher and The United States, native Jason Biddlestone had an outstanding performance. Hiroyuki Iida earned his 13th save, after closing out the game. The Phillies have now dropped 7 straight.

In the top of the ninth, Ryan Braun stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Phillies were trailing 5-3, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Hiroyuki Iida made a terrific pitch and Braun grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Philadelphia comeback.
