Matos Hurls Oaks to Shutout Victory
The Visalia Oaks did little to support starter Melvin Matos against the Lake Elsinore Storm, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Storm, striking out 9 and surrendering 2 hits. The performance from Matos allowed Visalia to escape with the 2-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Melvin, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Matos told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

This season, Matos has compiled a 7-9 mark with a 3.01 ERA.
