Phillies Win at Cincinnati, 2-1
|
Starting pitcher Wilmer Martinez gave the Philadelphia Phillies a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1, at Great American Ball Park. The winner was Martinez. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Wesley Crawford. The save went to Jason Beitey, number 2 for him.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Carl Crawford? The Philadelphia center fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put the Phillies on top, 2-0. For the game, Crawford had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Crawford told the Philadelphia Herald.
With the loss, Cincinnati drops to 2-3.
