Red Sox Defeat Yankees in 11
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the New York Yankees, 3-2, in 11 innings. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Steve Karsay. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Boston reliever Tom Gordon picked up the win, while Troy Percival took the loss for New York. Boston currently is in first place in the AL East Division at 36-14.
Boston used the clutch hitting of MigdĂ´nio Rangel to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Steve was bobbing and weaving the whole game," said Boston manager Andrew P.
