With Jong-su Shin leading the charge, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 13-11. Shin was 5 for 5 with a home run, 4 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Reds. The win was credited to Jerry Blevins in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Todd Ozias took the loss.

Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Raul Romero to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reds on top, 13-11. For the game, Romero had 2 home runs and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"It was terrific getting this win," Shin said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."

Cincinnati now owns a record of 17-23.
