The Texas Rangers downed the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 8-0, at Tropicana Field. Stellar pitching by Shigeki Noguchi had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who finished 5th in the AL in strikeouts with 245 in 2001, handcuffed his opponent all game. Noguchi, now 1-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Rangers are now 16-25, while the Devil Rays fall to 15-25.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for T.J. Holley? The Texas designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-0. For the game, Holley had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I love playing this game, so you'll never see me not want to go out there and pitch," said Noguchi.
