Pittsburgh got a big-time effort from pitcher Andy Shibilo, but it wasn't enough to keep the Cincinnati Reds from winning the game, 2-1. Shibilo threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Pittsburgh drops to 1-4.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jong-su Shin came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Andy Shibilo, he hit a first pitch knuckle curve for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 2-1.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Scott Smith.
