Mets Roll to 8-3 Win Over Brewers
|
The New York Mets powered past the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-3, at Shea Stadium. Howie Kendrick provided some of the pop. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. New York is now 19-18, while Milwaukee is 13-24.
The Brewers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Mets going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old shortstop Carlos Guillen came to the plate. Guillen hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 changeup from Milwaukee hurler Jason Vargas. It was Guillen's 1st home run of the year.
"It never gets old," said Guillen. "Winning, that is."
