Reds Earn Late Win
|
Cincinnati Reds starter Jeff Bawlson turned in a sterling performance against the Houston Astros, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Jerry Blevins closed the game out for Cincinnati, earning his 2nd save. The Reds, now 4-0, have been playing some good baseball.
Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Jonny Gomes to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds on top, 3-2. For the game, Gomes had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Gomes told a Cincinnati Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
