Both offenses were feeble at Dolphin Stadium. Fortunately for the Florida Marlins, though, Lance Berkman delivered in the clutch. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, to help his team topple the Houston Astros, 2-1. Geoff Geary, the winner, is now 3-1. He struck out 3 and walked 0 over 6 innings, while allowing 1 run on 6 hits. Wayne Franklin closed the door for Florida, picking up his 10th save of the year.
Berkman had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Marlins went on to win.
"We needed two runs to win," said Marlins manager Craig Harris, "and that's what we got."
The Astros, now 13-21, have lost 5 straight.
