Starting pitcher Brandon Matheny gave the Detroit Tigers a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Anaheim Angels, 3-2, at Angels Stadium of Anaheim. John LeRoy stitched up the save, his 6th. Anaheim is now 20-10.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jesus Parra? The Detroit right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-1. For the game, Parra had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Anaheim manager Kadin D said, following the tough loss.
