Kansas City Royals starter Junior Santana turned in a sparkling performance against the Detroit Tigers, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Brad Nelson closed it out for Kansas City, earning his 1st save.
Austin Kearns, who led the AL in stolen bases with 28 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Kearns contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Kansas City up, 2-1.
