Despite the exploits of third baseman Cristhian Presichi, the St. Louis Cardinals were beaten by the Cincinnati Reds, 5-4, in 13 innings. Presichi was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Wesley Crawford in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Chris Waters took the loss. At 20-7, the Reds have played well so far.

The Reds got a clutch hit from designated hitter Jonny Gomes. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Reds.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Gomes.
