Angels Win Nail-Biter in 10
|
The Anaheim Angels overcame a pretty good performance by Minnesota center fielder Johnny Damon, beating the Twins, 9-8, in 10 innings. Damon went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Carlos Medina snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Cibney Bello suffered the loss. Steve Connelly closed it out for Anaheim, earning his 1st save.
Anaheim used the timely hitting of Miguel Rodriguez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Angels on top, 9-8. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Rodriguez.
For the Twins, the loss makes them 9-15.
