Athletics Take Tight Tangle
|
The Chicago White Sox went down to defeat to Martin Mainville and his Oakland teammates. The final score was 3-2, in favor of the Athletics. Len Hart, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The White Sox drop to 9-12 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2004 season.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Oakland. That's when Josh Hamilton, who is tied for 10th in the AL in stolen bases with 3, hit a run-scoring double off Erik Bedard to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"This place sure got loud," said Bob C, the Oakland manager.
