Great Effort by Montgomery Wasted in 7-4 Mets Loss
The San Diego Padres withstood a fine game by New York third baseman Bert Montgomery at Petco Park, to upend the Mets, 7-4. Montgomery slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The setback makes New York 71-66.

Chris Franzen hit a 2-run double off Danny Espinoza in the bottom of the second, which put the Padres in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Franzen had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"Enjoyed this one," Franzen told the San Diego News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
