The San Francisco Giants and New York Mets obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The San Francisco Giants managed to get by the New York Mets, 5-4, at Oracle Park. San Francisco designated hitter Jabari Cook set himself apart with his performance. Jeremy Knutson closed it out for San Francisco, earning his 20th save.

Cook had a timely hit for San Francisco in the bottom of the seventh. With San Francisco trailing 4-2, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 5-4, San Francisco.

"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager James McDonald.

The Giants raised their record to 53-83.
