Atlanta Roughed Up By Giants
|
Due in large part to designated hitter Eric Blocker, the San Francisco Giants sunk the Atlanta Braves, 9-2. Blocker hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. San Francisco reliever Joe Lile picked up the win to move to 2-4. Jamie Lallathin suffered the loss. The 4th-place Giants have a record of 60-75.
With San Francisco leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Blocker came up to bat against Atlanta pitcher Alex Macias. Blocker hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Giants on top, 8-0.
Blocker told a San Francisco Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
