Guardians Losers, 3-2, to Seattle
|
The Seattle Mariners eked out a 3-2 win versus the Cleveland Guardians at Jacobs Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Nate Bump. He was terrific. Bump, the winner, moves to 7-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. Chris Gogolewski, credited with the save, is now 4 for 4 in save opportunities.
Jose Garcia's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Seattle catcher hit a run-scoring single off Brett Black to put the Mariners up.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Garcia. "It sure beats the alternative."
At 63-71, the Mariners claim last place in the AL West Division.
