The home crowd had a good time watching the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies get after it.

The Philadelphia Phillies picked up a win at Citizens Bank Park, downing the New York Mets, 8-2. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Max Scherzer, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Scherzer, now 4-5. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6.

Jose Guillen, the Philadelphia left fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 4-2, Phillies. For the game, Guillen went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Max did a good job keeping the game under control," said Philadelphia manager Brandon M.

At 53-79, the Phillies claim 4th place in the NL East Division.
