Riding the 2-hit performance of the 26-year old left fielder Sam Penfold, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Mets, 8-2. The 4th-place Cardinals have won 5 consecutive games.

St. Louis grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Penfold hit a 2-run double off Jason Biddlestone. His 20th double of the season put the Cardinals out in front, 4-2.
